I’m giving a little talk next Wednesday (07.11.12) which I’m calling ’2012 brandscapes’. It is a small collection of thirty or so images that were made, primarily, while walking around Stratford this summer and which provoked this blog post in August. Both at the time and now looking back through the images I’m genuinely surprised at the way the urban environment was visually changed. There were three starting points; the advertising of London 2012 sponsors, the messaging of the Games organisers and the effect of thousands of Games Makers (volunteers) and proudly branded up spectators. The talk is happening at the monthly Crossing Lines meeting which is a good platform to explore this type of project and I’ll be seeking feedback as well as asking where, if at all, it might lead to next. What I have to show is far from a complete picture but, given that only a bit of tatty bunting and a few tired posters now remain from the London 2012 brandscape, I may have done all I can.

love ‘the stage’ one! Wish I could join you for the talk.
Thanks Claudia. I walked past that scene several times only to forget about it before going on holiday! I was lucky to be back in Stratford before the poster was taken down.
